Ms. O'Neill is a native of Frederick. After attending Washington College on Maryland's eastern shore she traveled widely during the colorful years of the sixties and seventies; living in Washington, Boston, a French provincial village in Quebec and northern Vermont. She returned to Frederick in the 1990s and established "Artist's Palette Restorations" renovating older properties in the inner city. Using whole houses as her canvas, she explored color. A completely self taught artist, Ms. O'Neill now experiments with landscapes; influenced by her travels to England, Ireland and the south of France in the last year. Ms. O'Neill's studio is #4 in the Westside Arts Building above the Westside Cafe. |

Q: WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO PAINT? A: The beauty of the natural world and its infinite palette of colors Q: WHAT PAINT MEDIUMS TO YOU WORK IN? DO YOU WORK IN OTHER MEDIUMS? A: Oil - no other Q: WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOUR TALENTS? Q: WHAT IS YOUR DRIVING FORCE BEHIND CREATING WORKS OF ART? A: The process of creating an oil painting is Zen-like for me. The feel of the naked canvas, the smell of the turp and the oils. Q: CAN YOU DESCRIBE LIFE EXPERIENCES AND/OR PEOPLE THAT HAVE INFLUENCED YOU AS AN ARTIST? A: Since I mostly do landscape paintings, I would say the life experience that has influenced me would be time spent areas where the landscape is phenomenal: french Canada, British Columbia, northern Vermont, southeast coastal England, Ireland, south central France.
